Marathon Running Track

0On Sunday I completed my first full marathon!
After doing 8 half-marathons, but too afraid to commit to a full one, I finally did it!
I was determined to do one before I die, and I decided this time in life would be the best time for me, so I stayed dedicated to my training and am now officially a marathon finisher!!

I just thought it'd be good to write down my running history from my Garmin watch so i could see how my progress was:

Quick update!

Weigh-in: it's been fluctuating from 148-151 lately


My run on Saturday:
Was supposed to do 12, but somehow I got lost on my trail and backtracked -____-
Ended up running 13.66 miles. took me about 2hr45min.

Monday:
Judo practice - wasn't sure if i was gonna make it d/t tired legs, but i survived

Tuesday:
15 remaining minutes of the hiphop class - was like a warm up
30 min core class
~30? min of weights
62 minutes on the treadmill - incline walking and comfortable speed run intervals, didn't do too many speed intervals d/t my legs being a bit tired still and R knee and ankle weren't feeling 100% - ended up 4.18miles, 525 cals burned.

However, foodwise, I think i've been to relaxed about it..  need to control it more

went to a really good Thai Restaurant, although the food was quite salty
I was good and ordered the Spicy Beef salad and Tomyum soup
but had a few bites of joy's delicious pad see yew

dessert:
We got froyo nearby.. i think i deserved it today and at least i stayed away from the toppings


Exercise:
Ran 10 miles at Lake Merced -- good place to run! cool weather and the loop around the lake is 4+miles

Weigh-in: I thought I was late for work today and sped outta the house!

(yay this prevented me from caving into food at church today)

30 minutes of weights
my usual 62 minutes on the treadmill, but at faster speeds than I have been for a while, 5.0 felt slower today so i did I upped my speed. Ran, incline-walked, and speed springs for 60 minutes + 2 minute cooldown. 4.58 miles, 590 cals burned.

Day 133

I'm still alive! I just had no motivation to blog the past couple weeks.
I have to sleep really soon but a quick recap:
The youth retreat I was counselor of the weekend of July 29th, totally killed my diet. I thought I could control myself but it got too hard with stuff I shouldn't eat right in front of me all the time. After coming back, it was hard to get back to my diet.
My weight fluctuated up and down and even reached 152 again eeks!
Idk, I just lost motivation and control

Pleasantly surprised, my weigh-in today was: 148.4 !
My motivation came back and I must get back on track again.
However, I've decided that I will still follow the Dukan diet, but it'll be modified as to where, although I will have some PP days, I'm more allowing PV days on a pretty regular basis. I believe I will still lose weight, even if I eat vegetables..

Intake:
Breakfast:
3 tbs of oatbran with egg beaters, van extract, splenda, splash of milk microwaved
1 Pure protein bar 220 cals

lunch: firm tofu (prob about ~1/2 carton?) with balsamic vinegar
1 fage yogurt with honey - didnt have much time this morning to make a lunch other than this

After work: Firm tofu with balsamic vinegar and same garlic seasoning/salt again
~quarter palm size of tri-tip steak with some slice garlic

After judo:
Maybe about 5oz of tri-tip steak, with garlic, balsamic vinegar and garlic seasoning

Day 122

Weigh-in: 147.2. Yay going down again~ hope to get down to 145 again soon and go even lower.

Intake:

L: Rest of my sliced sirloin steak with balsamic

S: thought there would be rotisserie chicken at bible study today but no. I just picked out some of the chicken from the salad and some sliced almonds cuz I couldn't resist.. but at least almonds don't have much carb?

D: rushed home bc I was super hungry!
1 carton of firm tofu, sliced, dipped in egg and pan fried with no oil.
1 can of salmon mixed with plain yogurt, vinegar, and curry/spices

Exercise:
40 min on precor eliptical, varying levels but around 10, fwd and backwards alternating
1 hr Club Power class - always a good total body workout
1 hr Drums Alive class - wow it was really cool! My first time doing a drum cardio workout. You put step risers stacked up and upside down and put a big workout ball on it and everyone has drum sticks. It was really fun and a good workout too!

Day 121

Weigh-in: 148.8 - hey not a bad restart weight! i was pleasantly surprised

Exercise: good workout day today! All together almost 3 hours

  • 30 min hip hop cardio class Caught the last half of the class after i got off work
  • 30 min torturous core class! by that crazy instructor Jessica i talked about before. SUPER tough class, my body was crying, but it's good to get my butt kicked every so often...
  • few weights - for the chin lifts, I've been doing 3 x 5 at 80#, but for my last set today I managed to do it at 70#! yay on my way doing a pull up one day..
  • 62 min on treadmill - intervals of high incline walking, fast walking and running and even some speed intervals at speeds 7.0, 8.0 and 9.0! pretty intense treadmill sesh today.
  • Few more weight machines and even did some snatch and splits with a 15# dumbell today
  • 10 min stretch

Day 120

Weigh-in: 150.0 - I was really bad this weekend :T I somehow lost all my motivation and took a fat vacation or something.

Today wasn't that great either.
But my motivation is back now and tomorrow will be (another *sigh*) new start.
It helps that I have meat prepared to eat too. Carbs and nuts were too easily accessible this weekend.. And once I give in a little, I apparently give in a lot.. then go wild.. But I will go down again; can't give up.

I've also banned french fries and potato chips from ever entering my mouth again from this day on.


Exercise:
At least I got 2.5 hours of judo practice in? Weighed 149.6 after practice.

Day 115

Weigh-in: 148.6 .. lotsa sodium last night and i've been cheating a little lately


Intake

I don't know why but I couldn't control myself this morning or until i had my workout...
I kinda went crazy and couldn't stop myself and went carb overboard..
Corn bread, 2 slices of whole wheat bread, goldfish grahams and 2 coconut macaroons.. For some reason I couldn't care and just ate what I saw at home and at work...

But then i was able to become in control again after my workout..
Lunch: 2 pieces of marinated garlic chicken breast

Dinner:
1 sirloin steak, 1 egg white, roasted garlic, yogurt/balsamic dipping sauce

snack:
1 strawberry activia light yogurt with 2 tbs of oatbran

Exercise:
At least it gave me motivation to workout harder?

-49 minutes on the treadmill, mostly incline walking and fasting walking with 5 minute intervals of running at 5.0
-1 hour club power strength training class -- good to do a class again! d/t my sched i haven't been able to attend the class i so love
-then 32 minutes on the treadmill. Ran for 30 minutes straight at 2.0 incline and 5.0 speed. then cooled down

but then i came home and i couldn't help but eat cereal.. sigh. need to stay away.

It was Loice's last weekend here in America and on Saturday I splurged a bit with Thai food. There were Dukan friendly options on the menu which was nice to know, but I just splurged..

Day 109

Ahh I've been lagging on the posts.. Lately, I've just been so tired that I have no energy or forget to.

Weigh-in: 145.0 - I was surprised!! I thought yesterday's weigh-in was a fluke and was totally expecting a gain today. This is the lowest I've been in years!
Yesterday: 145.2 - very surprised as this as well!
Tuesday: 147.8

I'm also surprised because I haven't been as strict on my diet. I've been cheating here and there :/ Liking taking bites of this and that..

Tuesday, I did really until I ended up eating this Turkey Avocado sandwich that I was going to take home to my brother but I got hungry after work and somehow I made it disappear one bite at a time.. I was only going to take one bite, then just half the sandwich.. but then it gave me motivation to work out hard at the gym and I did 50 minutes on the elliptical, 30+ minutes of weights, and 40 minutes on the treadmill.

Yesterday... my slip ups included bites of korean style curry and rice and cheesecake and red velvet cake (from brother's party on Saturday) that we had at home (ugh). I didn't get to exercise either, because of VBS at church and I was exhausted when I got home.

Today's intake: My Dukan cycle is messed up so I'm just kinda doing a mixed PP & PV.. Starting monday, I will go back to a more set schedule. This week is just too funky.

Breakfast:
1 chicken breast
2tbs of oatbran with little egg beaters, water, splenda, and vanilla extract

Late Lunch:
Chicken breast
2 eggs + 2 egg whites
Triple iced espresso with little soy and nonfat milk
Then I had a few bites of the cheesecake and red velvet again... I went to go throw it out because I couldn't stop thinking about the fact that it's in the garage, and ended up having a few bites... then threw it away. Good riddance!

Dinner:
Not sure, but they're serving spaghetti for the volunteers at church today...
I'll bring a yogurt and maybe just eat spaghetti sauce?

Pure protein bar 180 cals and carb wise not too bad, about the same as some ff yogurts

Exercise:
Determined to do at least a 30 minute home workout. Disappointment with my lack of exercise lately.

After coming home from vbs, it took me til 12:30am to start working out. Nonetheless, after I got started I could keep going. These workouts were not too intense, but overall a good workout from Exercise TV, esp doing them at midnight hah.

Went up a little, but it's not tooo bad. Saturday Joy, Loice and I went to Napa. I only tasted one wine because I don't like wine so that's only like 3 tablespoons of a dessert wine, at night we ate at a gogi house though so I stayed away from carbs but I had some meat that wouldn't be Dukan approved like the ogyupsal and the banchan and gogi marinades have oil and/or sugar in it.

Yesterday we had a sister's dinner and I had a PV day and did pretty well considering what was available.

Today, I was really bad though so I don't really want to post what I ate because I'm ashamed :(
Brother's party food from Saturday was in the frig and today I just gave in... sigh. but tomorrow is a new day. Sad how I can understand how addicts to drugs or cigarettes feel through my relationship with food..

Day 103

Weigh-in: 147.4!! so happy this morning and gave me motivation! I'm back to the low I was a few weeks ago. Now I gotta see if it'll go down from here.

Intake: Attack Phase day 4

Breakfast:
2tbs oatbran with little egg beaters and water as hot cereal
1 egg +1 egg white



Exercise:
20 min eliptical level 8-10 to warm up
30 minutes of weight machines
62 minutes on the treadmill. Mostly fast walking and high incline walking but  one 10 minute interval at incline 2.0 and speed 5.0 and later an interval of 10 minutes at 2.0incline 5.5 speed.

Day 102

Weigh-in: 150.2 - still a loss so yay - must go below 150 and stay there. Whenever I get in to the 140s it always creeps back up to ~150. Must get away and stay away. I think this is the weight my body likes to be at, but must fight it!

Intake: Attack phase day 3
1 sirloin steak sliced with balsamic vinegar and roasted garlic

late lunch:
2 sliced sirloin steaks with balsamic vinegar and roasted garlic, fresh herbs and garlic seasoning (we just cooked what we had yesterday so these were ready to eat but I enjoyed it heh)
some microwaved egg beaters

After judo practice:
1 whole egg with 1 egg white pan fried
1/3 cup? of egg beaters with water, splenda and vanilla extract

Tough part of eliminating tofu and dairy for the first few days is that I'm pretty much just limited to meat, eggs and a little oatbran.

For the future:
Once I add dairy and tofu back again, my daily limits shall be:
1 carton of tofu
1000g (1kg) of dairy as suggested by the UK dukan diet

Exercise:
2.5 hours of judo practice - lots of sweat!

Day 101

Weigh-in: 150.4 - wow I was pretty shocked it went down so fast.

Intake: Dukan attack phase day 2

Spiced chicken breast
2tbs of oatbran with little egg beaters

1 egg white

1.25 lbs ground turkey with some tandoori seasoning, little garlic salt, fresh herbs, dried parsley, onion powder, 1 whole egg, little egg beaters cooked on the stove top and i ate with balsamic vinegar

1 sirloion steak, well done and eaten with balsamic vinegar

I must say eating no dairy or tofu has been quite tough the passed couple days. I'm used to being able to use FF milk to my eggs or tea and making sauces with ff sourcream. Just one more day of no dairy then I'll be able to add a little bit of dairy and tofu back in my diet again.

Exercise:
none :/ i don't know what's up with me! I used to work out 2-3hrs a day but now i've been pretty lazy.. gotta get back into it again!

Day 100

Ok.. so unfortunately I enjoyed myself a little too much on my week off from my diet. As much as I was determined to calorie count, I kinda just indulged.. ate things I was dying to eat and hadn't in while including pastries, pinkberry, fruit, pizza, pho, pasta, etc... Felt so guilty but it was so good..

On Monday morning I reached 155.4 - oh my... Carbs = Sin. So hard to control what I eat when I'm not super restricted...

Today's weigh-in: 154.6 - meaning I gained 5 lbs in a week TT kinda got me depressed for a bit, but gotta work on it again...

Restarted my Dukan Diet today. So I'm currently in attack phase, but with a little more restriction.
Going for 5 days on Attack, but for the first 3 days, no dairy or tofu either.

Intake: Pretty tough today, esp with the no dairy. Attack phase Day 1.
Breakfast:
2 tbs oatbran as hot cereal
2 bites of chicken breast really quick before running out the door


lunch:
shrimp and ~1 sliced chicken breast with balsamic vinegar
~1 cup egg beaters microwaved
~later 1/3 cup of egg beaters with splenda and vanilla extract


Snack at church during bible study:
pieces of rotisserie chicken breast

Dinner:
1.5 stove top cooked costco kind chicken breast with salt-free thai and indian spices, but I could still taste saltiness, but i think that's from the chx breast itself
4 hardboiled egg whites

Day 96

Eeks! It's been a week since I've updated.

So I quick recap on what went on...
We had a church camping church from Fri-Sunday and even though I ate samgyubsal and bulgogi, I think I did quite well we were fairly active too. On Sunday night, Joy, Loice, Jmoon and I went to a sushi buffet and I stuck to the sashimi, fish, steak and veggies.

On Monday morning I was 149.6. But I kinda ate a lot on Monday. Dukan approved but I kinda went overboard for some reason.. However, i did go to judo practice and so that's ~2.5 hours of exercise.

On Tuesday morning, I think I was 150.0 but I also woke up feeling quite sick which got worse throughout the day. I had a really uncomfortable feeling in my stomach and nausea, I could hardly eat anything. I had to leave the heart clinic early so I could rest up for my shift at PT. I came home and still couldn't eat much but a few tablespoons of oatbran hot cereal. I later went to work from 3-7:30, I really wanted to call in sick but I thought it was too late and thought I could bear it, so I just went. The discomfort came in waves, one minute I'm ok the next I wanted to curl up in fetal position and had a headache as well, but in the end I made it. I came home and took my temp and it actually went to 100.6F and so I just stayed on the couch and watched tv. I had a can of chicken noodle soup and took meds and napped a little and started feeling better. I needed to write a cover letter for a presentation for the next day though so I had to wake up. It was about 11pm by then and I could start to stomach some fruit yogurt and whole wheat bread.

Next morning, I'm a lot better but still nor 100% so I decided to stay off the Dukan diet because I felt queasy thinking of eating meat or tofu or plain yogurt.

Long story short, even yesterday I stayed off Dukan and decided to just watch what I eat.
Also, even though I was still only like 80% recovered from that food poisoning/stomach flu thing I made it through judo practice.

I made a new decision though.
I decided that until next Tuesday, I'm going stay off Dukan and just count calories and that I will restart Dukan starting Tuesday... also because I've been pretty stagnant in my weight lately as well. I must say, it's been nice eating carbs again.. I ate bread, rice, cereal and even a cookie Joy made.. It'd been a while, but it also reminds me of how dangerous they are because when I eat them I want to keep eating them and lot of it.

Day 89

Weigh-in: 150.4- Went down from yesterday, but I really think I may need to go attack again after camping, or do a combo of Dukan AND counting calories. Because these numbers are not making me too happy.

Intake:
B: little leftover of the tofu turkey thing from yesterday
1 Dukan oat bran muffin - I made 3 Dukan muffins from a recipe I found and it was great! I made them to take with me on the camping trip. 1 for tomorrow and 1 for Sunday morning. Yumm.

Snack:
~1-2 cups plain yogurt - I should cut down on my dairy, but it's so hard.
~1/2 cup of eggbeaters microwaved with a little ff milk and seasonings

Day 88

Weigh-in: 151.0 -- TT but i don't *feel* like i gained weight. And also yesterday i slept less than 2 hrs. Yeah.. i suck. Humz. Maybe i'll do another attack phase after camping trip. But maybe i'll lose since my choices will be limited..

Snack:
1 carton of silken tofu with splenda

Dinner:
Made this soondubu/mapo tofu dish that was so yummy!
Ground turkey pack with carton of silken tofu and some egg beaters with seasonings.
I ate it with sriracha chili sauce and it was soo delicious!

Dessert:
1 Weight watchers white chocolate raspberry yogurt - Even though it's "fruity" I choose the flavored yogurts with the least carbs so it's pretty much or even better than some of the normal flavored ones.

Exercise:
2.5 Judo practice - tougher workout today than Monday. Lots of sweat and gonna be sore I can feel.
Good to be doing judo again. My standing still sucks but went up against some big dudes on the ground and I think i killed em hehe.

What was kinda surprisingly nice though was that pt who hadnt seen me in like a month said i looked like i lost weight and could really tell. Haha.

Day 87

Weigh-in: 149.0 - Went down from yesterday, but still bummed :/

Dukan Day 31. Cruise phase day 26. PP Day


Intake:
Breakfast:
1 activia light strawberry yogurt
1 dukan gallette
~1/2cup egg beaters with ~1/2 cup ff milk with splenda and vanilla extract microwaved 


Lunch:
3 lean turkey burger patties 
1 packet tofu shirataki noodles with a little ff milk with some salt-free thai spices


Dinner:
Dukan friendly beef stroganoff  - really yummy! def doesn't feel like diet food
-however i used some tandoori spices when I cooked the extra lean ground beef for a little kick
-Sauce was made from FF plain greek yogurt, little ff sourcream, tsp of soy sauce and tsp of balsamic vinegar
-shirataki noodles used for the noodles




I'm trying not to not go overboard with the yogurt, since I can eat loads of it.

Breakfast&Lunch (Spread through a few hours)
~3 shrimp
-Lots of the tri-tip steak.. with FF sour cream & herb sauce - not sure how much to guage the amount of steak I ate... I would just say lg plateful of the slices?
~2 Cups of Fage FF greek yogurt with splenda 
-4 thin squares of oatbran brownies - all gone now. But i think it's dangerous having them around bc I keep wanting to eat em. I think it's better for me to have to make my oatbran stuff each time I eat it.
-Then maybe an 1/8 of a cup of FF milk with a little thai curry spices


This def kept me full for a long time..


I then met up with Samchon who came back from Afghanistan. I took him to go eat Pho and I just ordered an iced tea while he ate. Good to see him though. He seems to be doing fairly well.


Then when I got home, I ate
1 carton of silken tofu with splenda and vanilla extract


Exercise:
2.5 hours of judo practice - I started judo again! But not at State, so practices are a lottt less intense. But I certainly sweated a lot and got a workout, esp during the long warm-up. I hadn't done judo since February was a bit nervous, but first day back went well. I'm for sure rusty and my technique need a lot of improvement, but I was dying at practice so yay

Dukan Day 28. Cruise phase day 23.  PP day (since I ate lotsa veggies yesterday, I'm gonna restart my rhythm  It's really hard to do PP days on weekends.. so I'll just do PP tomorrow. I'm more lenient on eating veggies on the weekends..

I got the sashimi platter with tuna, salmon, and this other white fish
However, I did drink my bowl of miso soup, which I think has sugar in it, but oh well..
And I ate the mu under the sashimi
Then afterward, everyone went to PB where they shared a giant fruit patbingsu and korean bbang. I just chewed gum... 


Met up with friends afterward, but when I got home I was really hungry and kinda had a small feast...
-Ate a small tupperware's worth of the leftover chicken salad from Sat

-Plateful of the tri-tip steak slices

Day 83

Dukan Day 27. Cruise phase day 22.  PP day, but I may eat veggies today since it's mama's surprise party

Intake:
1 sunnyside ff strawberry yogurt

1 plain dannon greek plain yogurt with splenda and cinnamon
1 cup egg beaters with nonfat milk, splenda, vanilla extract microwaved
1/2 palm size of that rib meat (yeah, again.. it was there and ready to eat, but i did soak up the excess oil with a napkin)

Small iced coffee with nonfat milk and splenda from Philz

then at mom's bday party, i kinda feasted.. way too much. stuffed!
Stayed away from the carbs, but I cheated a bit gave into some oil

-Kkokko's chicken salad with vinaigrette that contains a little sugar and oil, sesame seeds, and some sliced almonds...
-Skewered veggies and shrimp prepared with no oil
-lots of sliced steak pieces
-slices of pan fried tofu with korean spices
-mustard veggie/shrimp salad thing, but it contained a little mayo..
I celebrated, but I resisted the really yummy desserts and addicting burnt almond cake.
Kkokko was nice enough to bake me some Dukan friendly oat bran brownies though so I wouldn't be sad, haha thank you!
_ I ate way too much though, like uncomfortably...

I'm pretty sure I'm going to have a gain tomorrow.
But must get back on track tomorrow!

Exercise:
29 minuted Biggest Loser Last Chance workout
~40 minute brisk walk after dinner ( i even started sweating!)

Nonetheless, today was a good day. I took mom out to get pedicures to distract her while everyone else got the house ready for her surprise bday party. I told her we'd go watch a movie after we go out to dinner with dad. Dad didn't even go golfing today like he usually does and said he had a headache. Joy said she was hanging out with her bf. All in all, everyone was a good actor! After pedis, i took mom to Philz coffee to let her try the mint mojito iced coffee (and also to kill time), she said it was the best coffee she had in her life! I was really happy ^^. I was happy I was able to pull this off and everyone was able to really keep this a surprised. She actually cried with she opened the door to confetti pops and a loud *SURPRISE* for everyone. Yay~!

Weigh-in: 147.8! finally coming down again after a period of gains and stagnation- and hey looking back at my old entries, this is actually my lowest!

Brunch: (Woke up around 1pm today, yay for no work)

~1/2 palm size of rib steak (i know no rib meat, but I was in a rush to leave the house and that was easy to nuke up)

Dinner: Haemul gyerran jjim - seafood, steamed egg dish with a few bell pepper pieces

Little sore today! Combo from yesterday and day before. It's been a while since i've been pretty sore.
Busy day today though. Need to clean house, grocery shop, prep for leading first small group, meet with friends.

Today after hanging out with some friends, a friend noticed I was actually losing weight! He said to stop losing weight. I kept laughing out loud at this comment because I have so much more to go and still really chubby, but I guess it's some encouragement haha.

I've been making this thing that I keep wanting to eat, it's egg beaters with nonfat milk, splenda and vanilla extract and I added silken tofu tonight too. Then I microwave it. It tastes like a chinese style tofu, custard-like dessert. love it!

Exercise:
-1 hour Circuit Training - It's been a while since I've died from my workout. This instructor is soo intense, like def bootcamp style. I don't really love her style, but she really pushes you.
-1 hour Zumba - she taught zumba too, and even her warmup is like krumping.. so intense and like on speed.

Day 80

Eeks i'm so behind on posting. Must get back on it! ><

Weigh-in: 151.2 (on monday after vacay i was 150.4, i guess i eat more at home, but I mustn't give up)

Exercise:
22 min precor elliptical at level 8 or 10 don't quite remember
1 hour club power - didnt want to work out beforehand but got energized after the class.
1 hour yoga - i usually avoid yoga, but i ended up staying for the class. Not easy, but quite relaxing and i felt great after.
1 hour zumba - wasnt going to stay but i just did


Maybe TMI, but I'm hoping to be a little lighter in the morning. I had a "cleansing" type of BM and I've been somewhat constipated lately, so I feel a bit better.



Day 79

With this tofu shirataki pasta dish umma made with curry and nonfat milk and herbs. Yumm!

Exercise:
30 min wt machines
62 min treadmill. Intervals of 5 min walking at mostly 3.5 at incline 5-15.0 by the end and running at incline 2.0 and speed 5.0-6.0
Leg press one more time and chin lift 3x5 @ 80#, i think soon i may be able to lower to 70 :)



It's been a while since my last update. I've just been really tired and passing out early or just too lazy.
This passed weekend, Loice, Joy and I went to Socal for a mini trip. We went to Six Flags Magic Mountain and hung around Ktown.

I stuck to the Dukan diet pretty well and had to miss out on some good food, but I did it. I really really wanted to eat bbang from the Korean bakery where Joy and Loice bought a lot of bread to take home. However, on Friday and Saturday night we ate at all you can eat Korean BBQ. This is where I did cheat a little. I ate veggies on both days including kimchi, pickled and other banchan that prob had some sugar in it, I also and ate rib meat - 생갈비 and 양념갈비, along with 차돌배기 and some sirloin steak. But not too carby, so I think I was okay. It was soo good though. And at least we did a lot of walking at six flags!

Day 72

Weigh-in: 151.2 - eek keep going up. However, I have been eating a lot more lately and I think I've been consuming more sodium as well. need to cut down. As expected, I started my period tonight and I've also been super sluggish and haven't been working out as hard I used to. Even with lots of coffee, I've been so tired, but then again last night I didn't get much sleep. I'm hoping this super desire to eat all the time with strong cravings is from my period.. I've been taking advantage of the fact that I can eat without restriction, so i've been eating even when I'm not hungry. Mustn't eat when I'm really not hungry.

Dukan diet day 16: Cruise phase day 11. PV Day

1 maybe 6oz? steak with FF sourcream
Tofu with balsamic vinegar

Snack:
1 fiber one nonfat blueberry yogurt

1 chicken breast with FF cream cheese and herbs, broccoli and cauliflower
1 carton tofu with mequite seasoning - omg this seasoning is so delicious! but it contains salt.. so I need to cut down, but it's sooo good on my meats and tofu

Snack: Light&Fit vanilla yogurt

Snack: ~1/2 carton tofu with mesquite seasoning after work before workout

I can't seem to get enough of my yogurt and tofu.... I love my tofu sweet and savory at diff times!

I've still drinking at least the required amount of fluids but this week I haven't been drinking as much as before, so I just work on that as well. I'm hoping my cravings will decrease as my period goes away.

~47 minute on treadmill, but only like 11 minutes of it was running and most was walking at varying inclines

Day 71

Weigh-in: 150.2 - Yeah...

Dukan diet day 15: Cruise phase day 10. Pure Protein Day

So lately, I've still been following my diet. But for some reason my appetite has been going out of control and so my quantities have been going up. Also, my cravings have been getting stronger and stronger. AND my body has been soo tired and lethargic... so I haven't really been working out :T

Intake:
Breakfast:2 shrimp
Nonfat plain yogurt with splenda and cin

Lunch: at Bill's for Kristie's leaving America get-together
Broiled chicken breast and egg whites, but I think they may have put some butter for the eggs :(

Then went to Lexus for maintenance for my car.
I was able to resist, but the temptation for their snacks was so strong. They had cookies, madeleines, aussie bites, mini cinnabon, oranges, cake. Lately I feel like I'm surrounded by desserts calling my name!! I've never craved oreos but lately I want oreos sooo bad and m&m cookies... However, I did get coffee with 2 shots espresso for free.

Snack:
Dukan gallette - love love this! I've been eating this the passed three days and it's the closest thing to bread I"ve eaten in a long time. It's the pancake recommended in the book using egg white, greek yogurt and the 2tbs of oatbrean and it's delicious!

~2 cups? Nonfat greek yogurt with cocoa powder, splenda and vanilla extract - this helps with my chocolate cravings

~1/2 cup egg beaters
1/4 carton silken tofu with balsamic vinegar

I CAN'T STOP EATING!  >_<
Also, today I've been having this headache and feeling sluggish even with caffeine and adequate sleep. Symptom of ketosis perhaps?

The start of my diet, my cravings weren't too bad, but I think resisting them so much has made me want them more lately. Plus I think I"m starting my period soon. I'm eating only my allowed foods, but I'm eating so much..

Nonetheless, I won't give up.

TBA - but must! I haven't not worked out for 3days in a row in a long long time..

Weigh-in: 152.6 -- oh my.. but food yesterday was quite salty and heavy as well

1 plate of salad with balsamic vinegar - and not mountainous or with the premade salads like I often like to get
2 bowls of chicken noodle soup -- i did this to get the really big chunks of chicken. I took out the noodles and had the soup too which is lower sodium.
It was soo hard watching everyone eat like the pasta and their especially yummy muffins. Blueberry AND they added strawberry buttermilk and there was strawberry butter as well. The frozen yogurt looked yummy too. I just watched everyone eat em and just sipped my water. I was quite full though.

Then to satisfy my dessert craving, I came home to eat my plain nonfat yogurt with splenda

Steak, like 1.5 carton of tofu, some tuna sashimi and greek yogurt.......

Weigh-in: @7am it was 149.6 but at 11am and after a few trips to el bano I went down to 148.8 - yay I thought I would've gained like 2lbs

Dinner didn't settle in me very well, so I kinda received like an internal cleansing.. I haven't had much for BMs lately, but I think it all came out last night and this morning. TMI but... yeah hahah

Dukan Day 8: Cruise phase day 3

Intake: Protein+Veg day

Lunch:
2 beef meatball kebabs so about 5 small meatballs with a few roasted veg like bell pepper and mushroom

Grilled Steak salad from BJs - skirt steak with some grilled veg and balsamic vinegar, no bleu cheese, no potatoes, no balsamic vinaigrette

Had a huge craving for dessert after watching everyone eat the pizookie, so I ate my greek yogurt with splenda and cin to satisfy my craving

Exercise:
Signed up for a 2 week free membership with Loice today. The 24hr in between us is super ghetto, but we still got somewhat of a workout. Excited for the classes though, but today was holiday schedule so we couldn't take.

I ate lotts of sashimi, grilled salmon, few clams, some oyster and lobster. However some of them had a some sauces...I tried to stay away from the more oily ones though. I ate with ginger and soy sauce though, so high sodium..

Because I had a huge dessert craving, I came home and ate yogurt and oatbran

Dukan Diet Day 5: Last day of Attack Phase

Intake:
1 fage plain greek yogurt with splenda and cin

Activia nonfat vanilla yogurt


Snack:
Eating Right nonfat vanilla yogurt

Lunch:
Small.. maybe 3oz steak?

Dinner:
1 baked curry chicken breast that I had to eat running out the door to catch a graduation

Late night snack:
6 piece samon sashimi with tiny dips of soy sauce and wasabi
1/2 carton of raw silken tofu

Haha that's a lot of yogurt, but it's the easiest thing to take when i'm rushing out of the house Dinner/snack? 1 chicken breast - had to eat it on the go.


Exercise:
  • ~20-30 minutes? of weights
  • 56 minutes on the treadmill. 2 min walking warmup, then I ran for 50 minutes straight at level 5.0-5.3 with a couple intervals of 2 minutes at 6.0, then cooldown walking for 4 minutes. I hadn't run straight for a while and I felt really good! I probably would have gone longer but I had to go home. It came out to abour 4.75 miles total, and burned somewhere from 500-600 cals but don't remember

I ordered the petite 6oz sirloin steak and gave away my sides.
They got a free big strawberry shortcake that looked amazing but I was able to resist :)
And I think I had like 1/2 a gallon of water lol

Dinner:
1 chicken breast with a little bit of fat free cream cheese, curry powder and dried parsley
1/2 carton of raw tofu
1/2 cup russian yogurt
Rooibos tea.

Snack:
1 Activia light nonfat vanilla yogurt
1/2 carton raw tofu with little balsamic vinegar

40 minute 6 Round Slimdown with Loice at home -- good full body workout even at midnight haha

Day 59

Weigh-in: 151.0 - heyy lowest it's been in a while.

Dukan Diet day 3: still in attack phase

Intake:
Breakfast
1.5 tbs oat bran
1 Fage plain greek yogurt with splenda and cin

Lunch:
A little bigger than a palm sized steak that is ~1in thick

Dinner:
1 filet salmon
1 small piece of steak

Snack:
1/2 cup Nonfat Russian yogurt with splenda and cinn - I wanted to try it bc I thought it'd taste like Greek yogurt, but it doesn't.. oh well, I can still eat it. But why did I buy the large tub? haha...

Exercise:
1 hour Club Power - was starting to feel somewhat low energy and my muscles were definitely feeling the burn. Didn't think I'd have the energy to do another class but 5 min after the class ended I felt fine, so I decided to stay.
1 hour Core Fusion - core is always tough, but today we used balls and it wasn't too bad. Last week, we used the glides and oy I hate those glides. We use them in body cond on Mondays too haha... I'm glad I stayed, good core workout and I get a good stretch at the end.
Didn't stay for Zumba today though.

Today there was a birthday dinner for suja... The hard part of weight loss is having to make excuses for not going out to eat. I did, however, meet the entire group at Honeyberry where people had dessert. I actually didn't feel thaat tempted as I normally would have been. It helped to have had dinner first and so I was not hungry at all and I think my willpower is getting stronger than my temptations yeehoo. I've been rejecting a lot of invites lately and even having to lie... but it's what it takes. At least after this attack phase, I can start eating many vegetables again on alternating days so if I do go out to eat, I have options. The restrictions help me in my choices though.

Also, since i'm excluding food groups in my diet currently, I'm also taking a multi-vitamin. (in which i take 1/2 in the morning and 1/2 at night when possible as recommended on Dr Oz hehe) and I also started taking fish oil bc although I don't know my cholesterol levels, I'm concerned about them getting too higih. Even though I do eat salmon and fish, it can't hurt to take fish oil I think. Plus, there are many benefits!

Dukan Diet Day 2: Attack Phase


Intake:
Brunch:
More steak from loice's party, 3 egg whites, 1 cup plain greek yogurt with splenda and cinnamon
2 cups tea

Snack:
1.5 tbs Oat bran

Snack:
1 Eating Right Vanilla nonfat yogurt

Before workout:
1 chicken breast with nonfat cream cheese

After workout:
1 chicken breast with curry powder and nonfat cream cheese (again.. haha)
1 plain greek yogurt with splenda and cinnamon


The diet allows fat-free cream cheese, which I thought was surprising at first, but after looking at the nutrition facts, it's pretty healthy! 0% fat, hardly any carbs, high in Ca+, 4g protein per serving, only negative is that it has some sodium. But I really do enjoy the taste! It adds a nice spread to my lean proteins, mixing it with a little curry powder and a little lemon juice was really great today with lotta flavor.

I'm also finding that I don't really get that hungry lately. After I eat my meals, the full feeling lasts a long time and I can't stop fairly easily even though I can technically eat these foods without restriction  :). Even though I'm really limited to what I can eat right now, it's helpful to know that after I lose the weight, I will be able to eat more like a normal person and have my weight still stable. Even though I have to decline eating out with a lot of people, I'm determined to stick with this.

Exercise:
I know the diet says to avoid hard physical exercise in this beginning stage especially the first 2 days and just to walk 20 min for now, but exercise is so part of me. I just won't go too hard.
Before going to work:

20 min Active sculpting workout
After work:
62 minutes on the treadmill. Mostly at speed 3.0 and varying incline walking from 5.0-15.0 and speed walking intervals at mostly 3.0 incline and speed 3-5-4.5. ~3.5miles, 445 cals.

I took it easier today, but I actually wasn't that tired today like I expected to be :-)
However, since I've been drinking a lot more water, I've been needing to pee so often!

Day 57

Weigh-in: 154.4 - yesterday did some damage.

Intake: Day 1 of my Dukan Diet: Attack Phase

Breakfast:
maybe about 8 of the small shrimp
like 6-7 steak slices?

Green tea and water

Lunch:
3 egg whites
A tupper container of the sliced steak
I don't know what you did to the gogi kkokko, but it's soooo good. even without anything on it.
~ 2 cups of green tea

Dinner:
1 filet of baked trout
1 Dannon nonfat plain greek yogurt and I added some splenda and a drop of vanilla extract - the books says I can eat flavored yogurts, but when I look at the labels, they have a lot more sugar than the plain ones, so i'll just flavor them myself. It was pretty good though! And I'm glad I can still eat yogurt
And surprisingly, I was full after this and didn't have a desire to eat more.

The DD book states drinking a lot of water is needed for this diet to help flush out waste products, bloat, etc. Which does make a lot of sense. So I've been consciously drinking a lot of water at meals and here and there.
This diet is quite interesting and a fairly good fit for me. The concept of being able to eat as much as want...and the fact that it's really strict. During diets (although I hate calling my eating regimen diets -- but this definitely is a diet) I normally have a hard time with portion control and moderation. Once I have a bite of something I like, I'd go crazy. But here, I can eat as much as like of certain foods til I'm full; it's quite interesting. So even though I pass by desserts and I get tempted, the fact that I CAN'T eat them AT ALL helps me to control myself. Just like dr dukan said in the book, "the best way to maintain a diet for most overweight individuals is to follow as closely as possiblee, precise, simple, focusedm concretem and non-negotiable instructions. I'm gonna aim to do the attack phase for 5 days -- the average -- before going to the alternating days of the cruise phase


Exercise:
1 hour Body Conditioning - died! I think I felt the lack of carbs during this workout, however I also normally die in the class anyway
1 hour U-Jam - this class was ok

Day 54

Weigh-in: 152.4 - yay going back down again! and exactly 10lbs from day 1! It's been slow, but better than gaining 10lbs. Also, I think I would have to say I'm the most toned I've ever been haha.. just gotta shed this fat to show nicely.

Intake:

Good day today. Covered a shift for a coworker, but it was a short one and I still got to sleep in a little. It helped me from sleeping all day and from being lazy. Instead I get more of my day, make a little money and have the gym to make me workout right there haha.

Also... this is not like me. But I saw Lucy Activewear was having 25% off their sale items.. and I couldn't resist. Lately, I've been seeing this girls in my workout classes who wear all lululemon and it looks so good... Lucy is pretty up there in terms of quality of Lululemon but they have more sales. The pants at Lucy had really good reviews and from $98 they went down to $53 and people say they last a long time and not sag.. My $25 target ones start to look not very nice after a few months.. so I figure this is a good investment. I bought 2 pants and a workout top. My shipment came in today and they look and feel so nice! They hold my tummy in and make my butt look good too haha. If I feel better in my clothes, I figure I'll feel better working out? heh heh...

Day 53

Weigh-in: 153.2 - good to know I haven't really gained. I've gotten my will back.. I think my will power is much less when I'm on my time of month...

I'm always tired on Thursdays because I have to wake up at 6:30 so I end up taking a nap and it's hard to get myself to workout right when I get home -__-. But gonna keep it a bit light though because my legs had some mild tiring feeling this morning/today

Yay didn't oversleep today! Almost, but didn't! However I had some funky GI problems again last night and this morning. Some reason before I slept and during the night and morning, my stomach felt queasy and my mouth wouldn't stop filling with saliva! Weird... luckily it subsided after having breakfast. I think it was because the yogurt I ate was maybe 6 months old or something like that. I haven't seen that kind of yogurt in our fridge for a while and i think it was hiding in the back somewhere.. haha..

Anyhow, I've been reading more about the Dukan diet from my book. I like that it's rules are very clear and after the weight comes off, they give you a plan to stop the vulnerable regaining. The first phase is the Pure Protein portion and lasts 1-10 days depending on the person and on average of 2-7 days. I'm thinking maybe next week would be good to start. I'll talk about it more later

Forskolin - helps immobilze fat outside the cell, goes into the cell and blows away the fat particles inside the cell
